Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) made a dire prediction about another 9/11 if Congress didn’t get behind the plan for Afghanistan that President Donald Trump revealed Monday evening in an address to the nation.

“We got to appropriate the money, I’m on the appropriations committee,” Graham said after the speech on Fox News. “I’m on the Armed Services Committee, I will fight Sen. [Rand] Paul [R-Ky.] tooth and nail to make sure we don’t lose in Afghanistan like we did in Iraq.”

“It’s just exactly what President [Barack] Obama did in Iraq, was to leave against sound military advice,” he said. “President Trump has the smarts and the moral courage to listen to his generals and take their advice rather than going the political way.”

“And I’m so proud he did because unlike Obama, President Trump is listening to his generals,” he continued. “And to my colleagues in Congress, you will own a ‘no’ vote.”

“The next 9/11 will be your fault, not President Trump’s fault, if you shoot down this plan because this is a solid plan. This will turn things around in Afghanistan,” he said. “It’s putting Pakistan on notice.”

“I have a lot of confidence this will work, but it won’t be easy,” he added. “They will try to break our will.”

“And to President Trump,” he said addressing the cameras, “you’ve shown the will to stand up to radical Islam, but my friend, they’re gonna come after us, they’re gonna try to break your will, don’t let them, stick with it.”

Trump laid out his plan for Afghanistan, making it clear that he was not in favor of leaving the country without declaring victory. His comments cleared the way for an increased troop presence in the region to win the war.
