Lindsey Graham expressed his confidence and support for Judge Brett Kavanaugh, following President Trump’s announcement to fill the vacancy on the Supreme Court.

“I’ve known him since he worked in the Bush administration,” Graham said. “Judge Kavanaugh has been on the D.C. circuit for years now. We know what we’re getting with Judge Kavanaugh; a solid conservative who interprets the law, who won’t make the law.”  Graham continued to praise Kavanaugh as one of the best legal minds of his generation.

Graham, who sits on the Senate Judiciary Committee, will have a large role to play in the confirmation hearings.  He told news sources that Kavanaugh will have bi-partisan support and will be confirmed in the Senate. Despite Senate Democrats vowing to block the President’s nomination, Graham pointed out that the vote will be a nightmare for red-state Democrats if they oppose a highly qualified nominee.  After meeting with Kavanaugh on July 11, Graham reminded Senate Democrats that elections have outcomes. “If you’ve got a problem with President Trump’s [Supreme Court] pick then you need to turn out and beat him next time,” Graham commented after the meeting.

“I want to congratulate the President on making a great choice for the conservative cause, and really for America as a whole,” Graham told his social media followers.

The confirmation process for Judge Kavanaugh, a U.S. Court of Appeals Judge for the District of Columbia circuit, is expected to take place this fall ahead of the midterm elections.
